Official: Be cautious on SD lakes, rivers

YANKTON (AP) — A South Dakota official is cautioning winter anglers and outdoors enthusiasts that ice might not be safe on all lakes and rivers, despite a recent stretch of subzero temperatures.
Game, Fish and Parks conservation officer Jared Hill says heavy snow is not only adding weight to ice but also insulating it.
Hill says the heavy snow also is hampering access to water.
