ABERDEEN (AP) — South Dakota Wheat Growers plans an $87 million expansion project over the next few years that would include new grain elevators and improvements at nine other facilities to speed up the grain-handling process.
The Aberdeen-based business says moisture conditions during the 2009 harvest created significant backup at area facilities and exposed the limits of its grain drying capacity.
New elevators are planned at Andover, Roscoe and Tulare. Updates will be made at Alpena, Grebner, Hecla, Highmore, Mellette, Roscoe, Willow Lake, Wolsey, Yale, and Berlin, N.D. Included are new dryers, bins, receiving capacity, truck scales, wet bins and receiving pits.
