SIOUX FALLS (AP) — Some South Dakota farmers are still trying to harvest last year’s corn crop.
About 7 percent of the crop was left in the field when a late-December snowstorm hit. The Agricultural Statistics Service said farmers are still harvesting when possible and got about 1 percent of the crop out of the fields in February.
The service says overall, about 4 percent of the 2009 crop remains to be harvested.
Statewide, snow depth averages 12 inches.
