CLEAR LAKE — Crystal Springs Rodeo, just seven miles northeast of Clear Lake, will start its annual action-packed weekend on June 21 this year.
The PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour on June 21 will host 30 of America’s top bull riders for a chance to win the first-ever CSR Xtreme Bulls Championship title. The specialty show is $20 for adults and $10 for children. Professional bullfighter Cooper Waln, the South Dakota native from Parmlee, will compete in this event.
The marathon of three PRCA rodeos will begin on June 22 with Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night, benefiting breast cancer research. The rodeo will be followed by a free professional fireworks show by Lew’s Fireworks.
The June 23 rodeo is Kid’s Night, sponsored by Sanford Clear Lake. The first 300 children 10-and-under will receive a free gift. There is a “Behind the Scenes” chutes tour for kids at 6:30 p.m.
The final rodeo on June 24 is Touchstone Energy Night, offering a free gift to the first 600 kids 10-and-under.
This year’s featured acts are bullfighters Josh Rivinius of Elgin, N.D., and Nathan Jestes of Douglas, Wyo., barrelman rodeo clown Justin “Rumpshaker” Rumford, specialty act Tomas Garcilazo and announcer Steve Kenyon.
Gates open each night at 6 p.m., with rodeos beginning at 8 p.m. nightly. Rodeo tickets are $18 for adults and $7 for children. Kids ages 5-and-under are admitted with no cost. Ticket bundles for all three nights are $50 for adults and $15 for children.
Camping spaces are available to adults for $30 a day, $45 for two days or $60 for three days. Children’s camping passes are $15 a day, $20 for two days or $20 for three. Campsites do not have electrical hookups but non-drinking water is provided.
Crowds of approximately 20,000 to 25,000 people are anticipated at the rodeo, including approximately 6,000 campers.
