Miss Rodeo Aberdeen Pageant
The 11th Annual Miss Rodeo Aberdeen Pageant will be held on Aug. 13.
Horsemanship will begin at 9 a.m. at Horseshoe Stables, 2502 135th Street SW, in Aberdeen with interviews, style show/modeling, oral presentation competition, and coronation to follow starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Eagles Club. All events are free and open to the public.
The new Miss Rodeo Aberdeen will represent Aberdeen at bull riding and rodeo competitions across the state and may compete at the Miss Rodeo South Dakota pageant held in July at Belle Fourche, S.D. The new Miss Rodeo South Dakota will advance to the Miss Rodeo America competition in Las Vegas, Nevada. The reigning 2017 Miss Rodeo South Dakota is Sonyah Clifford of Rockyford, S.D., Miss Rodeo South Dakota Lady in Waiting is Kay Marrs, Whitewood, S.D. The Jr. Miss Rodeo South Dakota is Kayla Engwicht, Ward, S.D.
The reigning Miss Rodeo Aberdeen is Stephanie Gruener, from Brandt, S.D., and the reigning Jr. Miss Rodeo Aberdeen is Madison Arnold, from Mitchell.
In addition to the title the new rodeo queens will win a crown, banner, chaps, buckle and more.
Contestants are judged equally in three categories: appearance, personality and horsemanship. The scores from a contestant’s oral presentation, photogenic judging, interviews, impromptu questions, introductions, and modeling are also included.
