The South Dakota section of the Society for Range Management will conduct their annual meeting and tours in Deadwood on Sept. 18 and until noon on Sept. 19. RSVP and registration is required by Sept. 12 by contacting Matt Odden 605-870-1326 or online at www.sdrangelands.com.

The Sept. 18 tour will be at Conner Ranch, the recipient of the Area IV 2018 Excellence in Range Management Award. Covered in the tour is managing a ranch to balance profitability, range health, promoting sage grouse habitat in a delicate ecosystem, and utilizing sheep and cattle to rotationally graze.

Sept. 19 will feature a range plant ID contest as well as presentations on emerging and innovative technologies in range management. Ranchers and private landowners are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Meetings will take place at First Gold Gaming Resort/Travelodge Inn & Suites in Deadwood with registration starting at 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 18. Event sponsors are the South Dakota Society for Range Management, South Dakota Grassland Coalition and Pheasants Forever.
