Hub Area 4-H Rodeo

The Fifth Annual Hub Area 4-H Rodeo will be held July 7-8 at the Brown County Fairgrounds. Over 100 4-H contestants from across South Dakota will compete in 10 rodeo events. There is no charge to come enjoy the rodeo and cheer on your favorite contestants.

There are four Ambassador contestants competing for the 2018 Hub Area 4-H Junior and Senior Ambassador titles. The competition will begin its schedule of activities July 6 with registration of the ambassador contestants at 5 p.m. at the rodeo grounds on the Brown County Fairgrounds. The ambassador horsemanship competition will follow the speeches and interviews. Horsemanship will begin at 7 p.m. and is open to the public. Coronation will be July 8 at 8:45 a.m. followed by the rodeo.

Senior Ambassador contestant

Addison Wittnebel is the 14-year-old daughter of Barrett and Peggy Wittnebel of Castlewood, S.D. This is Wittnebel’s sixth year in 4-H rodeo, and she will be competing in barrels, poles, breakaway roping, goat tying, ribbon roping, and the Ambassador contest. She is active in cross country, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, and track.

Junior Ambassador contestants

• Candice Aamot is the 10-year-old daughter of Bjorn and Anne Aamot of DeSmet, S.D. Aamot is a member of the SD National Barrel Horse Association and Blazin’ Barrels. In her free time she enjoys trick riding at various events, showing her dog, Balto, and reading books.

• Cami Wolles is the 10-year-old daughter of Ed and Teresa Wolles from Dell Rapids, S.D. She was the 2017 Estelline Rodeo Princess. Wolles will be competing in barrels, poles, goat tying, and the Ambassador Contest this weekend. She enjoys riding horse, sewing, playing piano, and spending time with her cats.

• Destiny FourHorns is 9 years old and from Clark, S.D. This is her second year in 4-H Rodeo. FourHorns wrote a book about a horse name Starfire that won a state award. She participates in the 4-H Horse Show and in her free time she spends time with her horse, Ranger.
