Senior Center has busy week
May is Older Americans Month, and the Aberdeen Area Senior Center is observing Senior Center Week Monday through Friday (May 13-17), with special activities each weekday.
Monday is Bingo Day, running from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m., with prizes for all winners.
Tuesday is Entertainment Day, with the Friendship Singers performing some old-time favorites at 11 a.m.
Wednesday is Coronation Day, the highlight of the week, with the crowning of the 2013 Aberdeen Area Senior Center king and queen. The program begins at 11 a.m., with recognition of all members 75 and older. Each one will receive a token gift, followed by 2012 king and queen Gerry and Vangie Miller passing their crowns on to the new royalty. Celebratory cake will be served with the noon meal.
Thursday is Favorite Way to Volunteer Day, with people sharing how they like to volunteer at the senior center and in the community.
Friday is Root Beer Float Day with floats served after lunch and at afternoon coffee. All activities take place in the dining room. Anyone wishing to have lunch on any day must call Senior Meals at 605-225-0182 for reservations. If you have any questions, call 605-626-3330.
