A sixth performance has been added for Aberdeen Community Theatre’s production of “The New Mel Brooks’ Musical Young Frankenstein.”

Opening night will now be June 11. Evening performances, beginning at 7:30, run through June 15, with a 2:30 p.m. show June 16.

In a news release, artistic/managing director James L. Walker said, “ACT is happy that reaction demands an additional performance of the show. It promises to be wonderful entertainment.”

“The New Mel Brooks’ Musical Young Frankenstein” comes from the creators of the Broadway sensation, “The Producers.”

This ACT musical comedy production includes tunes, such as “The Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and “Puttin’ On The Ritz.”

Dr. Frankenstein, played by Courtney Rott Jr., aims to fulfill his grandfather’s legacy by bringing a corpse back to life in the show. With the help and hindrance from his servant Igor (Eli Corbett); buxom assistant Inga (Yvonne Freese); and needy fiancée, Elizabeth (Kelsey Papke), his experiment yields success and unexpected consequences.

“This show is an onstage singing and dancing laboratory science experiment and a monster of a good time based on the Mel Brooks’ film ‘Young Frankenstein,’ with seriously silly songs added,” Walker said in the release. “What more fun could you want?”

Daniel Yurgaitis, director of theater at Northern State University, is director and choreographer. He has directed theater companies across the country, including each of ACT’s summer musicals since 2001. He also choreographed ACT’s 2007 production of “Honk!” earning him Outstanding Achievement-Choreography awards at 2007 state, regional and national American Association of Community Theatre festivals.

Additional cast members include Steve Balsarini as Inspector Kemp and the Hermit, Trent Deyo as the monster, Jason Honerman as Victor Von Frankenstein, Kellyanne Kirkland as Frau Blucher and Brodigan Morton as Ziggy.

Ensemble members are Chris Anderson, Emily Davis, Lindsey Dosch, Emily Geffre, Crystal Harper, Honerman, Robi Kolden, Mary-Anne Nelson-Loefke, Tyson Meyer, Christopher Rinkenberger, Isaac Seaton, Austin Vetter and Margaret Wild.
