Reception Tuesday for ‘Tonight Show’ announcer

A reception for Wally Wingert, the announcer on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday (July 2) in the Alumni Room of the Aberdeen Recreation and Cultural Center.

Wingert, 52, spent a good portion of his childhood in Aberdeen. Arriving in the third grade, he attended Simmons Elementary, Simmons Junior High and Aberdeen Central. In 1978, he and his family moved back to Sioux Falls, where he graduated from Washington High School.

He now lives in California.
