Sept. 16 through Sept. 24, the Aberdeen Area Humane Society will accept items for its fall 2nd Paw sale.

Items will be accepted at the Clubhouse at the Brown County Fairgrounds Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. On Saturday, Humane Society workers will be on hand from 1 to 4 p.m.

The 2nd Paw Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Clubhouse.

The Humane Society accepts everything except clothing, large appliances, metal desks, old TVs and encyclopedias. Items welcome include furniture, housewares, appliances, tools, jewelry, lamps, games, toys, books, seasonal items, antiques, collectibles and new items. Also acceptable are soft items, such as bedding and linens.

Donations, fundraisers, membership and adoptions fund the Humane Society. No support is received from government entities. The Aberdeen Area Humane Society serves the area from Mobridge to Minnesota, from Huron north into North Dakota.

The 2nd Paw sale is the Humane Society’s largest fundraiser. The Society has in residence approximately 70 animals at all times. The animals require food and sometimes medication. The organization has employees to pay and the usual bills of most households, including lights and water.

All proceeds go to caring for the animals. Last year, more than 488 animals were placed in homes, and the group aims to place more this year.
