SDSU Extension hosts cooking and wellness demonstrations during the 2016 South Dakota State Fair

BROOKINGS, S.D. – SDSU Extension staff will be hosting cooking and wellness demonstrations during the 2016 South Dakota State Fair in Huron September 1-5.

“State Fair provides a great opportunity for our team to interact with South Dakotans and share healthy new recipes with ingredients that are trending across the United States right now,” says Suzanne Stluka, SDSU Extension Food & Families Program Director.

More than cooking, the SDSU Extension team will also encourage South Dakotans to get moving with physical activity and yoga classes.

All classes will be held in the Women’s Building, the public is invited to attend at no cost.

Thursday Sept. 1 at 9:30 a.m.: Are you a woman looking for some tips on how to exercise with weights? Join Nikki Prosch, SDSU Extension Health & Physical Activity Field Specialist as she leads a class to teach you how.

Thursday Sept. 1 at 4 p.m.: Curious about yoga? Attend this introductory class and let Tara Shafrath, SDSU Extension Health & Physical Activity Field Specialist as she guides you through the basics on what you need to know to get started.

Friday Sept. 2 at 1 p.m.: Avocado Chocolate Pudding

Looking for an easy dessert that is packed with flavor and health? This class is led by Megan Olesen, Registered Dietitian and SDSU Extension Nutrition Field Specialist

Friday Sept. 2 at 6 p.m.: Cooking with Quinoa Discover some quick and easy recipes to use made with this ancient grain. This class is led by Suzanne Stluka, Registered Dietitian and SDSU Extension Food & Families Program Director.
