Miss Rodeo Aberdeen pageant is Aug. 15
The 15th Annual Miss Rodeo Aberdeen Pageant will be Aug. 15.
Horsemanship will begin at 9 a.m. at Foot Creek Stables at 1320 135th St.
Interviews, style show/modeling, oral presentation competition and coronation will start at 12:30 p.m. at the AmericInn Lodging/Suits-Event Center at 301 Centennial St.
All events are free and open to the public.
The new Miss Rodeo Aberdeen queens will represent Aberdeen at rodeo and bull-riding competitions across the state. They will also attend local and statewide community events throughout the year.
The reigning 2020-21 Miss Rodeo Aberdeen queen is Morgan Erickson of Atwater, Minn., who graduated from South Dakota State University in Brookings. Junior Miss Rodeo Aberdeen is Gabrielle Rebelein of Brookings, who attends high school in Volga.
The 2020-21 Miss Rodeo South Dakota is Martina Loobey of Sturgis, who will advance to the Miss Rodeo America competition in Las Vegas in December. The Teen Miss Rodeo South Dakota is Shannon Rebelein of Volga.
In addition to the title, the new Miss Rodeo Aberdeen queen will be awarded a crown, banner, chaps and buckle.
Contestants are judged equally in three categories: appearance, personality and horsemanship. The scores from a contestant's oral presentation, photogenic judging, interviews, impromptu questions, introductions and modeling are also included.
Queen division age range is 13-17 for the junior category and 18-24 for senior category.
