South Dakota

For the week ending November 14, 2021, there were 4.8 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Topsoil moisture supplies rated 9% very short, 23% short, 63% adequate, and 5% surplus.

Subsoil moisture supplies rated 12% very short, 33% short, 53% adequate, and 2% surplus.

Field Crops Report: Corn harvested was 89%, behind 95% last year, but ahead of 79% for the five-year average.

Winter wheat condition rated 6% very poor, 20% poor, 41% fair, 31% good, and 2% excellent.

Sorghum harvested was 93%, behind 98% last year, but ahead of 86% average.

Sunflowers harvested was 83%, near 80% last year, and ahead of 73% average.

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 31% very poor, 37% poor, 22% fair, 9% good, and 1% excellent.

North Dakota

For the week ending November 14, 2021, there were 4.1 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Topsoil moisture supplies rated 16% very short, 28% short, 53% adequate, and 3% surplus.

Subsoil moisture supplies rated 32% very short, 31% short, 35% adequate, and 2% surplus.

Field Crops Report: Winter wheat condition rated 7% very poor, 23% poor, 42% fair, 25% good, and 3% excellent.

Corn harvested was 90%, behind 96% last year, but well ahead of 69% for the five-year average.

Sunflowers harvested was 83%, behind 92% last year, but ahead of 73% average.

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 49% very poor, 26% poor, 18% fair, 7% good, and 0% excellent. Stock water supplies rated 31% very short, 41% short, 28% adequate, and 0% surplus.

Minnesota

Measurable snowfall late last week limited the state to 4.0 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending November 14, 2021, according to the USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Field activities for the week included harvesting corn.

Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 2 percent very short, 12 percent short, 77 percent adequate and 9 percent surplus.

Subsoil moisture were rated 5 percent very short, 21 percent short, 68 percent adequate and 6 percent surplus.

Field Crops Report: Corn harvested for grain reached 97 percent, one day ahead of last year and 15 days ahead of the 5-year average. Average corn moisture content of grain at harvest was 17 percent.

Iowa

Variable precipitation slowed harvest activities in parts of Iowa, allowing farmers 4.1 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending November 14, 2021, according to the USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Field activities included harvesting, baling corn stalks, applying fertilizer and anhydrous, and fall tillage.

Topsoil moisture levels rated 1 percent very short, 10 percent short, 81 percent adequate and 8 percent surplus.

Subsoil moisture levels rated 6 percent very short, 25 percent short, 66 percent adequate and 3 percent surplus.

Precipitation this week helped improve soil moisture levels slightly.

Field Crops Report: Ninety-one percent of Iowa’s corn for grain has been harvested, 4 days ahead of the five-year average. Moisture content of field corn being harvested for grain was 17 percent.

Farmers in south central Iowa have over 20 percent of their corn for grain yet to harvest.

Iowa’s soybean crop harvest is virtually complete at 97 percent.

No issues with livestock were reported. Some cattle have been put out on corn stalks.

Nebraska

For the week ending November 14, 2021, there were 5.5 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Topsoil moisture supplies rated 8% very short, 27% short, 64% adequate, and 1% surplus.

Subsoil moisture supplies rated 11% very short, 36% short, 52% adequate, and 1% surplus.

Field Crops Report: Corn harvested was 90%, behind 96% last year, but near 88% for the fiveyear average.

Winter wheat condition rated 2% very poor, 10% poor, 28% fair, 50% good, and 10% excellent. Winter wheat emerged was 98%, near 95% last year and 97% average.

Sorghum harvested was 91%, behind 97% last year, but near 89% average.

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 12% very poor, 18% poor, 54% fair, 14% good, and 2% excellent.
