South Dakota State Fair releases new logo
The South Dakota State Fair logo has had a couple of looks throughout the last half-century, but its newest look has farming and fair fun on fleek.
The South Dakota State Fair and the state's Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources jointly unveiled the new state fair logo Wednesday night at the Red Wilk Construction Tuff Hedeman Bull Bash, according to a DANR release on Thursday.
The new graphic depicts a red barn adjacent to a Ferris wheel with rolling South Dakota farmland in the foreground.
“At its heart, the state fair is about agriculture and youth events, having fun, and showcasing the best of the great state of South Dakota,” state fair manager Peggy Besch said in a press release Thursday. “The new logo captures those themes, and we are excited to have it represent our fair for years to come!"
During the past 50 years, the state fair has had at least three completely different logos, as well as a special logo made for the fair's centennial celebration in 1984. From the mid-1970s through 1981, the state fair had one distinct logo with minor variations added occasionally. The previous logo was first used in 1985.
Merchandise branded with the new logo will be available at an information kiosk across from the Family Living Center.
The 2022 South Dakota State Fair runs Sept. 1 through Sept. 5.
