NWSS to host Shorthorn National Sale and Pace show
OMAHA, Neb. – Shorthorn exhibitors, breeders and enthusiasts alike, will soon head to the mile high city for the National Western Stock Show (NWSS) in Denver, Colo., for a few days of competition and camaraderie.
The weekend of Shorthorn events starts “In the Yards” on Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. with the National Pen Bull and Heifer Show held in the Pepsi Arena. The Shorthorn Pen Show has been steadily growing in numbers and another great showing is expected this year.
On Jan. 20, events move to the “Hill” for the Junior PACE Heifer Show that will begin at 11 a.m. in the Stadium Arena followed by the Junior ShorthornPlus Heifer Show. The Major PACE Bull Show will then begin after the conclusion of Junior ShorthornPlus show.
One of the most highlighted Shorthorn events at the NWSS is “The Summit” National Shorthorn Sale which is offering thirty elite lots to be auctioned. In addition, two Shorthorn prints will also be sold. The first print is a black and white photo of PS Troubador, the 1956 International Grand Champion Steer pictured with President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Proceeds from this print will go to benefit the Shorthorn Foundation. The second print, “The Choice”, was captured at the Kansas State Fair Junior Show and will go to benefit the American Junior Shorthorn Association (AJSA).
The sale parade will begin at 5 p.m. on Jan. 20, in the Stadium Arena followed by the sale at 6 p.m. in the Beef Palace Auction Arena. The full catalog can be found online at http://www.shorthorn.org.
Exhibitions for Shorthorn exhibitors conclude Jan. 21 with the Major PACE Female Show starting at 1 p.m. followed by the Open ShorthornPlus Female Show, both in Stadium Arena on the hill.
