Sioux Empire Farm Show 4-H & FFA Youth Invitational Calf Show

SIOUX FALLS -Joshua Cribbs, Brookings, S.D., judged the 4H/FFA Youth Invitational Calf Show at the Sioux Empire Farm Show Jan. 22 in Sioux Falls.

Four classes of breeding heifers were shown with the grand champion heifer going to Adam Eichacker, Salem. Sammi Schrag, Marion, exhibited the reserve champion heifer.

Twenty-four head were shown with first and second place in each of the four classes as follows: Class 1: Nathan DeJong, Little Rock, Iowa; Abbie Strasser, Lennox; Class 2: Adam Eichacker, Salem; Karlie Freng, Mission Hill; Class 3: Adam Eichacker, Salem; Taylor Hurd, Canton; and Class 4: Sammi Schrag, Marion; Kyler Johnson, Baltic.

Twenty-three steers were shown in four classes. The champion steer went to Taylor Hurd, Canton, with the reserve championship going to Brent Nelson, Volga, S.D.

First and second places in each class were: Class 1: Hunter DeJong, Little Rock, Iowa; Ashley Beer, Canton; Class 2: Makayla Nelson, Volga; Kyler Johnson, Baltic; Class 3: Taylor Hurd, Canton; Brent Nelson, Volga; and Class 4: Taylor Hurd, Canton; Jaxon Schrag, Marion.

Two classes of feeder heifers were shown. Autumn Haan, Chancellor, showed the champion feeder heifer. Kyler Johnson, Baltic, exhibited the reserve champion feeder heifer.

First and second places in each class were: Class 1: Katie Freng, Mission Hill; Mahli Strasser, Lennox; and Class 2: Autumn Haan, Chancellor; Kyler Johnson, Baltic, S.D.

Nathan DeJong, Little Rock, Iowa, was named champion senior showman. Ashley Beer, Canton; was reserve champion senior showman.

Hunter DeJong, Little Rock, Iowa, was named champion junior showman. Joe Eichacker, Salem; was reserve champion junior showman.

Makayla Nelson, Volga; was named champion beginner showman. Geoff Dunkelberger, Chancellor; was reserve champion beginner showman.
