BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring will serve as president of the Food Export Association of the Midwest USA.

Goehring was elected to the post during the recent annual meeting of the Midwestern Association of State Departments of Agriculture in Medora. The conference was held in N.D. because Goehring was the president of that group.

Food Export Midwest was created in 1969 as a cooperative effort of 12 state agricultural promotion agencies and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. The nonprofit promotes the export of food and agricultural products from the Midwest.

Goehring says exports are vital to American agriculture, and especially to North Dakota.
