S.D. 4-H Shooting Sports teams receive national awards
BROOKINGS – The South Dakota 4-H Shooting Sports Team members placed in several categories during the National 4-H Invitational held in Grand Island, Neb. South Dakota’s seven teams competed with more than 550 4-H members representing 35 states in a variety of shooting disciplines.
Each team participated in three different competitions emphasizing different skills. Those placing include the following: Air Pistol individual – Elliott Ohlrogge of Woonsocket received fourth place in Bullseye and fifth place in Timed/Rapid Fire. The Air Pistol team placed second in Bullseye and fifth in Timed/Rapid Fire. Team members include: Darby Arbach, Marion; Jonathan Linke and Elliott Ohlrogge, Woonsocket; and Jacob Foiles, Brookings; the team was coached by Art Kneen, Artesian.
The Air Rifle Team placed fifth in Standing. Team members include Shawn Branine, Harrold; Michael Geidel, Mitchell; Kaia Kleinlein, Brookings; and Shayla Olson, Britton coached by John Geidel, Mitchell.
22 Pistol individual: Krysta Dvorak of Lake Andes placed third in Bullseye, and tenth place overall. The 22 Pistol Team placed fourth in Bullseye. Team members include; Collin Borgman, White Lake; Krista Dvorak; David Knoll, Platte; and Regina Knutson, White coached by Angie Kinsley of Murdo.
22 Rifle individual: Megan Stulken of Pierre placed second in 3-Position and received tenth place overall. The 22 Rifle team placed fourth in 3-Position. Team members include: Samuel Ryckman and Megan Stulken; Marshal Smith, Whitewood; and Kyle Manke, Murdo; the team was coached by Tom Smith of Whitewood.
Other events and participants include:
Compound Archery team: Josh Christopher, Alexandria; Wyatt Hespe, Okaton; Luke Mairose, Kimball; and Michael Plaggemeyer, Sturgis coached by Keith Hespe, Okaton.
Muzzleoading competition: Monica Knutson, White and Dylan McCarthy, Burke coached by Dalie Foiles, Brookings.
Shotgun: Nathan Braun and Conor Rude, Brookings; Curt Jons, Bonesteel; and Weston Moysis, Gayville coached by Diana Jons, Bonesteel.
