Edmunds County Aerospace Day

Farm Forum

Aerospace Day was held on Thursday, July 18. It was open to youth ages 8-18. There were 21 youth and several adults that attended. The day began with registration at the 4-H Building. The youth then made a glider out of styrofoam plates. The next project they made was a tissue paper hot air balloon. The morning was finished with making water bottle rockets.

A pizza lunch with chips and root beer floats were provided for all in attendance.

After lunch the activitiesmoved out to the Tri-County Ag Services Building. The weather did not cooperate for them to launch their hot air balloons. The youth were then split into three groups. One group launched their water bottle rockets, while another received a tour of the airplane hangar, and the third group tried out the on the Flight Simulator. The day concluded with a demonstration by the Aberdeen Area Modelairs.

All activities were sponsored by a grant from the South Dakota Leaders Association and money received from Select Seed.
