Edmunds County excels at herdsmanship
The 2013 South Dakota State Fair Herdsmanship awards were announced last week. These awards are based on how clean you keep the area around your livestock. This includes keeping the alley swept and pens clean as well as keeping all the tack put away neatly. Another part is having someone around the animals ready to answer questions and greet people as they walk through the barns.
Edmunds County received 1st place in Beef Herdsmanship. 4-H Members earning this honor were Bryce Beitelspacher, Cody Forkel, Lane Forkel, Chloe Jager. Placing in the top three has been a long standing tradition for Edmunds County and these members worked hard to keep the tradition going.
Edmunds County received 1st Place in Sheep Herdsmanship for the second year in a row. 4-H Members earning this honor were Myra Toennies, Hannah Toennies, Colby Sylte, Avery Sylte, and Josie Sylte.
Congratulations go out to these 4-H Members in representing Edmunds County.
