SIOUX FALLS – Corn stocks in all positions on September 1, 2013 totaled 42.2 million bushels, down 14 percent from a year ago, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Of the total, 15.5 million bushels are stored on farms, down 35 percent from a year ago while off-farm stocks, at 26.7 million bushels, are up 7 percent from last year.

Soybeans stored in all positions totaled 6.1 million bushels, down 6 percent from last year. On-farm stocks are 1.3 million bushels, down 50 percent from a year ago while off-farm stocks, at 4.8 million bushels, are up 22 percent from 2012.

All wheat stored in all positions totaled 71.0 million bushels, down 28 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks of 33.5 million bushels are down 38 percent from 2012 while off-farm stocks of 37.5 million bushels are down 15 percent from last year.

Oats stored in all positions totaled 7.3 million bushels, up 113 percent from last year. On-farm stocks of 4.6 million bushels are up 77 percent from 2012 while off-farm stocks of 2.7 million bushels are up 223 percent from last year.

Sorghum off-farm stocks totaled 103,000 bushels, down 34 percent from 2012.

Barley on-farm stocks totaled 400,000 bushels, down 27 percent from a year ago.
