The 10 S.D. breeders who registered the most Angus

The 10 producers who registered the most Angus beef cattle in the state of South Dakota recorded a total of 3903 Angus with the American Angus Association during fiscal year 2013, which ended Sept. 30, according to Bryce Schumann, Association chief executive officer.

The 10 top recorders in South Dakota are: Jorgensen Ranches, Ideal, 600-head; Edgar Bros, Rockham, 579; Roger W & Shelly Joseph, Winner, 399; Raven Angus, Colome, 388; Hugh E Ingalls, Faith, 364-head; Wilkinson Ranch, Lake Preston, 335; Mick & Lynn Varilek, Geddes, 328; Thomas Ranch, Harrold, 307; Donald E Miller, Estelline, 304-head; Mohnen Angus Farms, White Lake, 299.

Angus breeders across the nation in 2013 registered 288,822 head of Angus cattle. “Our year-end statistics continue to demonstrate strong demand for Angus genetics and solidify our long-held position as a leader in the beef cattle industry,” Schumann says. “These results underscore our members’ commitment to providing genetic solutions to the beef cattle industry.”
