FREMONT, Neb. (AP) – Nebraska officials say Otoe County is the 24th in the state to earn the “livestock friendly” designation.

Lt. Gov. Lavon Heidemann announced the designation on Feb. 25.

The program helps recognize the positive impact that the livestock industry and agriculture has on Nebraska’s economy.

Otoe County will receive road signs bearing the program logo to display along highways.

Counties apply for the livestock friendly designation by holding a public hearing and passing a resolution. County officials must then submit a completed application to the agriculture department.
