Forage workshops offered in Minn. March 26-28

To address key forage production and management issues in Minnesota, a series of Forage Workshops will be held the week of March 24. Individual sites include Fergus Falls on March 26 in the AgCountry Farm Credit Service Building, St. Charles on March 27 at the St. Charles City Hall, and Kingston on March 28 at the Kingston Community Center. This program is developed by the University of Minnesota Extension and is aimed at current issues and research in forage production and management with the intent to increase producers’s forage production and farm profitability.

Topics, presenters, and agenda differ by location but include: Explaining 2013 Forage Injury/Winterkill and Potassium Fertility with Intensive Alfalfa Production, (Dr. Scott Wells, University of Minnesota Extension), Maximizing Forage Utility and Feeding/Reducing Corn in Cattle Diets (Jim Paulson, University of Minnesota Extension), Alflafa N Credits: What Have We Learned (Dr. Jeff Coulter, University of Minnesota Extension), Alfalfa/Grass Production & Management (Doug Holen, University of Minnesota Extension), Fungicides for Alfalfa….What are the Disease Threats, (Dr. Deb Samac, USDA-ARS and Lisa Behnken, University of Minnesota Extension) and Insect/Disease Management in Forages (Dr. Phil Glogoza, University of Minnesota Extension). Past participants expressed that they have benefited from the useful, research based, and timely information the University of Minnesota Extension brings to these meetings and the open discussion format designed to encourage audience participation. This program targets management information for producers and Ag professionals.

Registration is $25 which includes lunch and handouts. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with the program dismissing at 3:00 p.m.
