ASA awards 2014-2015 SOY Scholarship
ST. LOUIS — Caleb Brannon, a senior at Calloway County High School in Puryear, Tenn., is the recipient of the 2014-15 Secure Optimal Yield (SOY) Scholarship from the American Soybean Association and BASF.
“Year after year, we are so impressed with the quality of young people this competition generates. Caleb is another wonderful example of why the future of American agriculture is as bright as it is,” said ASA President and Iowa farmer Ray Gaesser.
ASA and BASF team up each year to present the $5,000 Secure Optimal Yield (SOY) Scholarship to an outstanding high school senior who has achieved high academic and leadership requirements, and is planning to pursue a degree in an agriculture-related field at an accredited college or university. Brannon will use the scholarship to attend Murray State University in Kentucky.
Brannon received the award in a special presentation at ASA’s Annual Awards Banquet during last month’s Commodity Classic in San Antonio.
