BROOKINGS — Gardening season is upon us again and with it comes the questions. Is this a bad bug or good one? What’s wrong with my cabbage plant? How do you transplant petunias? Can I grow these two plants side by side? How much water is too much?

As of April 1, 2014 Master Gardener hotlines are back in communities across the state to help answer all gardening questions. Gardeners can call, email or stop in with a sample plant or bug for them to look at.

The hotlines will be open from April 1 to October 1 at the following locations:

• Aberdeen: 13 Second Ave. S.E., 605-626-2870 and ask for the Master Gardeners, coordinator is Cindy Schnabel, cindy.schnabel@sdstate.edu

• Rapid City: 1530 Samco Road, 605-394-6814, email:

pennington2012@gmail.com, coordinator is Mary Hercher

• Sioux Falls: 2001 E. Eighth St., 605-782-3298, coordinator is Liz Blaalid, email:

Elizabeth.blaalid@sdstate.edu

If you do not live near a hotline office, you can call the Rapid City hotline for the name of a Master Gardener near you to help answer your questions.
