Hitchcock-Tulare FFA members do well at State Convention

The Hitchcock-Tulare FFA Chapter participated in the South Dakota State FFA Convention in Brookings. The Meat Evaluation Team placed 2nd over all with Jordan Michlitsch placing 4th individual gold rating, Grayson Binger placing 6th individual, gold rating, Chase Bixler placing 15th individual, silver rating, and Tristin Fleihe 27th, bronze rating. The Veterinary Science Team placed 3rd with Cassie Binger placing 4th ind. gold, LaMour Binger 7th. ind. gold, Heather Barrie 10th. gold. Cooper Gordon from the Livestock Evaluation Team placed 14th ind. gold, Trent Hofer, 56th, bronze. Also on the team was Landon Gatzke and Cole Chaplin. The team placed 10th. Agronomy team placing 9th, with Riley Binger placed 12th ind. gold, Skye Chaplin, 26th, silver, Erin Barrie, 32nd, silver, and April Hamilton 49th, bronze. In Farm Business Management, Paige Binger placed 15th, silver, Heather Barrie 16th, silver and Cassie Binger 33rd, bronze, with the team placing 6th over all.

The State Degree Recipients from the Hitchcock-Tulare FFA Chapter are the following: Heather Barrie, Cassie Binger, LaMour Binger, Lexi Binger, Paige Binger, Cole Chaplin, Nicole Hamilton, and Trent Hofer.

Lexi Binger placed 3rd in the Ag Mechanics Design and Fabrication Proficiency area. Paige Binger placed 1st in the Nursery Operations Proficiency with Cassie Binger placing 2nd. Nicole Hamilton placed 2nd in Goat Production. Heather Barrie placed 3rd in Home and Community Development. Cassie Schultz placed 2nd in Specialty Animal Production. Shelby Stanfiel placed 1st in Wildlife Production and Management.

Also at the state competition, Cassie Binger received the five hundred dollar Wade Lang Scholarship and Nicole Hamilton received the five hundred dollar Blue and Gold Scholarship.

Nicole Hamilton was elected and installed as our new 2014-2015 State FFA Treasurer.
