Jamie Mundwiler selected as Milbank FFA chapter president

Jamie Mundwiler has been selected as the 2014-2015 Milbank FFA Chapter President at the Annual FFA Member-Parent Banquet on May 12. The other FFA Senior Chapter officers selected were: Vice Presidents, Kiera Leddy; Secretary, Kayla Holtquist; Treasurer, Rebekah Tuchscherer; Reporter, Anna Kurtz; Sentinel, Ashley McCulloch; Student Advisor, Brianna Schreurs; and Parliamentarian, Sharon Folk.

The following Top Chapter Awards were given out to the following Milbank FFA members.

The Seize the Moment – Justin Maass Award was awarded to Kasey Schmidt. The Seize the Moment–Justin Maass Award is voted on by the Milbank FFA members for the FFA member who best represents enthusiasm and dedication for the Milbank FFA Chapter through out the year. Kasey has been the Milbank FFA Chapter Vice President, attended the National FFA Convention as a member of the Natural Resource team. Kasey tried out for State FFA Officer, member of the Milbank FFA Horse Team, sold fruit, and planned FFA Week activities. Kasey received a plaque and $150 scholarship from the Lynn & Brenda Maass family.

Star Greenhand—Trevor Schmdit. The Star FFA Greenhand is the top award given to a first year FFA member. Trevor was a junior FFA officer, attended the State FFA Leadership and State FFA Convention. Trevor was a member of Milbank Milk Quality Team. Trevor has sold fruit and been involved in the FFA week activities.

Star Agricultural Placement—Rebecca Stohr. The FFA Chapter Star Agricultural Placement is awarded to the Milbank FFA member whose main supervised agriculture project is placement at an agricultural business/farm. Rebecca’s placement site is at her parent farm, Keith Stohr. Rebecca’s works with the farm sheep and goat animals. Rebecca is a State Degree recipient.

Star Farmer—Rebecca Leddy. The FFA Chapter Star Farmer is awarded to the Milbank FFA member who has a supervised project is production based. Rebecca has a Beef Production project on her parents farm. Rebecca is also a State Degree recipient.

Member of the Year—Kiera Leddy. The Member of the Year is awarded to the FFA member who is the most involved with the Milbank FFA Chapter. Kiera has been involved numerous FFA activities throughout the year. Kiera placed Silver at the National FFA Job Interview. Kiera placed 1st at the State FFA Public Speaking event and will represent South Dakota at the National in October. Kiera was a member of the Milbank FFA State FFA Meat Evaluation team. Locally Kiera has sold fruit, magazines, and involved in FFA week activities.

National FFA Scholarship Program—Sean Pinkert received a $2000 scholarship through the National FFA Scholarship Program. The scholarship is sponsored by Schuneman Equipment Company-John Deere.

Retiring Officer Plaques were given to the outgoing FFA 2013-2014 senior officers: Student Advisor-Taylor Seehafer; Sentinel-Sean Pinkert; Secretary—Rebecca Stohr, and Vice President—Kasey Schmidt.

Leadership Awards were given to the FFA member who displayed outstanding leadership through out the year were: Freshmen—Korrine Roggenbuck; Sophomores—Brianna Schreurs, Juniors—Breanna Schmitt and Senior—Brock Tillma.

Scholarship Awards for the FFA members with the highest grade point in Agriculture Education Class were; Kadon Leddy; Sophomores-Natalie Stohr; Juniors—Zach Souza and Seniors-Melissa Lenards.

Milbank FFA members that placed at the State FFA Convention were awarded their certificates. The National FFA competing teams of Veterinary Science, Meats Evaluation and Agriculture Mechanics were recognized.

Greenhand Pins was awarded to the first year FFA members and Chapter FFA pins to the second year FFA members.
