HURON – The South Dakota State Fair announces Josh Abbott Band will perform at the South Dakota State Fair on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Hailing from Texas, the Josh Abbott Band formed in 2007 and has been on the rise in the country music scene ever since. Their most recent album “Small Town Family Dream” has climbed to number five on the U.S. Country charts, 15 on the U.S. charts and number two on the U.S. Indie charts. Josh Abbot Band hits include “Oh, Tonight,” “She Will be Free” and “Touch,” which propelled them to front of the Texas music scene in record time.

“We are excited to announce the Josh Abbott Band to complete our 2014 grandstand lineup,” said State Fair Manager Jerome Hertel. “We’ve recognized that red dirt country has a major following. When the opportunity to book these groups came along, I jumped on it. Adding these groups to our grandstand lineup rounds it out well so we should see another extremely successful year.”

Opening for the band, fair goers will see Stoney Larue and Aaron Watson. Stoney Larue released his most recent album, “Velvet,” in 2011. Hits include “Oklahoma Breakdown,” “Down in Flames” and “Feet Don’t Touch the Ground.”

Aaron Watson has released 11 albums in his 12 year career, the most recent of which – “Real Good Time” – includes hits like “Raise Your Bottle” and “July in Cheyenne.” Over his long career, Aaron Watson has debuted four of his albums on the Billboard charts and has had seven number one singles on the Texas Music Charts.

Pre-sale on tickets for grandstand shows will begin June 9 for backrest holders, followed by Friends of the Fair ticket sales on June 12. General public ticket sales will begin June 16.

The 2014 South Dakota State Fair will run from Thursday, Aug. 28, through Monday, Sept. 1. Channel Seeds preview day will be Wednesday, Aug. 27.
