Angus Foundation Golf Tournament grosses $13,625

Sixty-five Angus golfers braved the early morning rain until the sun came out on July 8 at the Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton, Ind., and raised $13,625 in gross proceeds for education, youth and research. The 14th Annual Angus Foundation Golf Tournament was hosted in conjunction with the 2014 National Junior Angus Show (NJAS) in Indianapolis, Ind.

“Our sponsors and players deserve a huge thank you for their continued support,” says Milford Jenkins, Angus Foundation president. “This year’s event was no exception to the past, and it was a fun-filled day for all who attended.”

Golf tournament winners this year in Flight A were Jim Purfeerst, Matt Purfeerst and Mark Purfeerst, all of Faribault, Minn.; and Lynn Ewald of Waldorf, Minn. Flight B winners were Gary Stevenson and Clayton Stevenson of Caldwell, Texas; Jerry Barnes of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and Arlen Sawyer of Bassett, Neb. Flight C winners were Rob Kay of Madison, Wis.; Kim Hawthorne of Westby, Wis.; Val Gaffney of Barneveld, Wis.; and Jim Rentz of Coldwater, Ohio.

The overall event sponsor for the tournament was Express Ranches, Yukon, Okla. Hole-in-one sponsors were Paul and Lynn Hill; Sarah and Jason Schaffer; and Neenah and Alok Jain, all of Bidwell, Ohio. The Club House sponsor was Sierra Ranches, Modesto, Calf.

In addition, Sysco Indianapolis, Inc., provided Certified Angus BeefÒ brand steaks for the tournament awards luncheon. Copy Craft Printers, Lubbock, Texas, assisted with the printing of the signs and banners for the tournament.

Serving as this year’s masters of ceremonies were Lucas Nord of Wolverton, Minn., foundation director on the National Junior Angus Association (NJAA) Board of Directors, and Shane Kerner, NJAA director from Weiser, Idaho.
