Paint-Run-Away in Leola a success

Farm Forum

On June 3 McPherson County 4-H hosted a painting workshop in Leola at the Municipal Building. There were 15 area youth ages 8-14 that attended the workshop. The participants were able to choose from two different paintings, one was a wintery night scene and the other was a sunset scene. Connie Buskohl, of Let’s Paint-Run-Away taught the kids different types of color blending, brush technique, and how to follow simple directions. This was organized by McPherson County’s 4-H Advisor, Jenna Malsom. The event was open to all kids in McPherson County, and Malsom says she would like to host this event every two years. This is a great way to expose youth to art besides what they get to learn in the class room. The youth who participated can also exhibit their painting at the 2014 McPherson County 4-H Achievement Days either as a 4-Her or in Open Class.
