Soybean Cyst Nematode tour Aug. 18 in Lamberton, Minn.

The Southwest Research and Outreach Center in Lamberton, Minn., will host a Soybean Cyst Nematode (SCN) Tour from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18. Soybean Cyst Nematodes are a chronic problem for soybean production in Minnesota.

University of Minnesota soybean agronomist Dr. Seth Naeve, soybean breeder Dr. Jim Orf, nematologist Dr. Senyu Chen, and IPM specialist Bruce Potter will be among those showing SCN research and leading discussions on ways to improve SCN management.

Attendees will view University of Minnesota research plots at the SWROC. Research and topics include: managing resistant populations and SCN, breeding efforts for SCN management, chemical control, and SCN effects on soybean production. If time and aphid populations permit, soybean aphid research will be visited as well.

Please join us for the SCN Field Tour on Monday, August 18. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. in the shelter north of the administrative office area, and the tour begins at 1:00 p.m. CCA credits have been applied for, and there is no registration fee for this field tour.

The SWROC is located 1.4 miles west of Lamberton on U.S. Highway 14. Watch for signs and turn north and follow State Highway 330 to the Center.
