S.D. students to perform at National FFA Convention
The South Dakota FFA is pleased to announce that six South Dakota high school FFA members will have the special honor of joining a select group performing in the National FFA Band and Chorus during the 2014 National FFA Convention.
Austin Herrboldt, Menno; Clayton Keck, Miller; Alana Nelson, McCook Central; Kasey Schmidt, Milbank; and Mikayla Sousa, Milbank will participate in the band. Jamie Mundwiler of Milbank will represent South Dakota in the choir. The musicians, selected from across the nation, will meet four days prior to the National FFA Convention to rehearse. They will perform for convention sessions and banquets, sharing their musical talent and energy. The SD FFA members each received $50 from the SD FFA Association and a $150 scholarship from the SD FFA Foundation to help pay for travel expenses.
Over 60,000 people from all 50 states are expected to meet in Louisville, KY October 29 – November 1, for the 87th National FFA Convention. Each year, thousands of students, parents, alumni, advisors and sponsors gather to make new friends, learn about innovations in agriculture, and acquire valuable leadership skills. Students compete for top honors and gain recognition for their hard work and achievements.
