Leddy is a national FFA champion
Kiera Leddy of the Milbank FFA Chapter won the National FFA Championship in the National FFA Prepared Public Speaking Career Development Event (CDE) on Friday, October 31 at the seventh session of the National FFA Convention & Expo. The event was held in conjunction with the 87th National FFA Convention & Expo in Louisville, Ky. The prepared public speaking CDE is designed to recognize outstanding FFA members for their ability to prepare and present a factual speech on a specific agricultural issue in a well thought out and logical manner in a competitive setting. Members prepare and deliver a six to eight minute speech from memory and respond to five minutes of questions. The event is just one way FFA members can develop their ability to communicate in a powerful, organized and professional manner. Sandy Christensen coached Kiera.
The Prepared Public Speaking event, held at the Marriott Hotel in Louisville, Ky., is one of many educational activities at the National FFA Convention & Expo in which FFA members practice the lessons learned in agricultural education classes.
Kadon Leddy placed 2nd in Social Science in the AgriScience area. Kadon did a survey study on “What are South Dakotan’s Perception of Agriculture?”
Audrey Souza and Brandi Niedert was awarded the American FFA Degree, the highest FFA degree.

In Agricultural Technology and Mechanical System event: Brock Tillma placed Gold; Mikayla Brakke and Zach Wiese placed Silver; Melissa Lenards placed Bronze.
In Meats Evaluation and Technology Milbank placed Bronze as a team. Kadon Leddy and Paige Johnson placed Silver; Jimmie Berkner and Will Mischel placed Bronze. The Krecia Leddy helped coach the team.
In Veterinary Science Milbank placed Bronze as a team. Sharon Folk and Rebecca Leddy placed Silver. Breanna Schmitt and Michaela DeWald placed Bronze.
