Anastasia, Laramie selected American Royal Hereford Show Champions

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – BR Anastasia 3023 ET and GKB 88X Laramie B293 won the grand champion female and bull titles at the 2014 American Royal National Hereford Show on Nov. 2, in Kansas City, Mo.

Judge Kevin Hafner, Yukon, Okla., sorted the 170-head open show and complimented exhibitors on the quality of the entries.

In the female show, grand and champion spring yearling female honors went to BR Anastasia 3023 ET, owned by Rylee Barber, Channing, Texas. The March 2, 2013, female was sired by UPS TCC Nitro 1ET. Anastasia was also selected champion female in the American Royal Junior Hereford Show on Nov. 1.

Reserve grand and reserve champion spring yearling female honors in the National Hereford Show were awarded to Cassidy Hanson, Linn Grove, Iowa, with H CHEZ TR Chardonnay 303A. The March 4, 2013, female is sired by H WCC/WB 668 Wyarno 9500 ET.

Grand and champion senior bull honors went to Gary and Kathy Buchholz, Waxahachie, Texas, and Brumley Farms, Orovada, Nev., with GKB 88X Laramie B293. The Dec. 10, 2012, bull is sired by NJW 98S R117 Ribeye 88X ET.

Reserve grand and reserve senior bull honors went to Chac Mason 2214, owned by Gary and Kathy Buchholz; Eleanor James, Sherman, Ill; and Prairie Rose Cattle Co., Sherman, Ill. The Feb. 6, 2012, bull is sired by CRR About Time 743.

In the cow-calf show, Ramsey Dominette Diva XL 21Z, exhibited by Aubrey Cattle Co, Monrovia, Ind., and Ramsey’s Herefords, Greenfield, Ind. was selected champion. The July 12, 2012, daughter of H Excel 8051 ET showed with a May heifer calf sired by BR Golden Spread Dan. Cassie Allscheid, Waterloo, Ill., exhibited the reserve champion cow-calf pair, Oaks Fasination 131X. The Jan. 31, 2010, daughter of PW Victor Boomer P606 showed with a March heifer calf at side, sired by SB 122L Git-R-Done 19R ET.

Following the selection of the champions, Gary and Kathy Buchholz of GKB Cattle was named premier exhibitor. Kirbie Day, Waxahachie, Texas, was named premier breeder. Perez Cattle Co., Nara Visa, N.M., exhibited the first-place get-of-sire with a group sired by NJW 73S 980 Hutton 109Z ET. Doug LeTourneau, Gallatin, Tenn., exhibited the best six head.

Judge Blake Bloomberg, Stillwater, Okla., sorted the 58-head junior heifer show on Nov. 1. Reserve grand honors went to CRR 109 Kelly 303 shown by Shayne Myers, Colusa, Calif.
