Edmunds County 4-H Recognition Night results

The Edmunds County 4-H Recognition Night was held Sunday, November 2 at the 4-H Building in Ipswich. Several members along with their families attended the event. The awards ceremony started at 4 p.m. followed by a potluck supper. The Leaders Association then sponsored the movie Mr. Peabody & Sherman and served drinks and popcorn. The 4-H members, leaders, and friends of 4-H were honored for their accomplishments and contributions. Jenna Malsom, 4-H Youth Program Advisor welcomed all to the event. The flag pledges were led by Achievement Day Queen Heather Fuhrmann.

4-H graduation awards were presented to Lane Forkel, Heather Fuhrmann, Jade Maier, and Cassius Pond.

The Danforth award was presented to junior Rieley Maier who shows good leadership qualities.

The Meritorious Award was presented to Hosmer Vet Clinic for their donation to the 4-H Program, Livestock Barn Repairs, and Heifer Futurity Program. The 4-H Alumni Award went to Dennis Hoyle. The Lucky Charms received a community service certificate.

Two leaders received special recognition for their years of service as club leaders and members of the Leaders Association. Scott Kilber and Karen Wagner received a 5 year certificate and silver pin. Other leaders recognized for their years of service were Jess Olivier 7 years, Sherrie Forkel 11 years, Janet Fuhrmann 6 years, Carole Curtis 12 years, Emily Kadlec 12 years, Carol Pond 13 years, Heidi Sylte 7 years, Becky Nierman 7 years, Leslie Braun 8 years, Wendi Gilbert 9 years, Angie Kulesa 3 years, Tara Beitelspacher 2 years, Mark Beitelspacher 2 years, Carrie Beadle 1 year, Todd & Cassie Holtz 7 years, Nichole Beyers 2 year, Russ & Colette Maier 11 years, and John & Stephanie Jung 4 years.

The Overall Horse Award went to Kaylee Braun. The Beginner A Dog Showman was Jailey Hutson and the Overall Dog Showman was Alex Preszler. Dog awards are sponsored by Dave & Joan Goppolt.

Individual honors for the Ken’s Food Fair Citizenship Awards were Payton Eisenbiesz-1st place, Bryce Beitelspacher-2nd place, and Brady Beitelspacher-3rd place. First place club award went to Wily Wizards, second place to Busy Bowdle Stars, and third place to Lucky Charms.

The Visual Arts Dabbler Awards went to Beginner Emma Beyers and Senior Haylee Kilber. These awards are sponsored by the Esther Sweeter Family.

Payton Eisenbeisz received the SD Cattlemen’s Auxiliary award. Bryce Beitelspacher received two awards form the SD Club Calf Association. Brady Beitelspacher received the SD Soybean Research & Promotion Council award. CorTrust Bank Awards were presented to Hannah Toennies and Payton Eisenbeisz for scoring in the top ten in state fair judging contests.

The Family Herdsmansip Award was given to the Waldner family.

Edmunds County received 1st Place State Fair Herdsmanship Honors in sheep. Certificates were presented to Avery Sylte, Colby Sylte, Josie Sylte, Hannah Toennies, and Myra Toennies.

Jade Maier was recognized for qualifying for the State Finals Rodeo in Saddle Bronc Riding, and Team Roping. Rieley Maier was also recognized for qualifying for the State Finals Rodeo in Team Roping, Breakaway Roping, and Ribbon Roping. Claire Beyers, Emma Beyers, Chesnee Wagner, and Payton Eisenbeisz received the Bev Wright Jr. Fashion Awards.

First year shooting sports pins went to Caleb Johnson, Quincy Olivier, Alanna Wiedrich, and Grant Weisser in Archery; Katie Bierman, Jailey Hutson, Tarynn Kleffman, Carson Malsom, and Ashley Ptacek in BB Gun; and Baylee Kulesa in BB Gun and Air Pistol. These pins are received for qualifying and shooting at the state meet in Ft. Pierre. Medallions for high point scores were received by Caleb Johnson-Beginner Archery, Nathan Preszler-Junior Archery, Haylee Bierman-Beginner BB Gun, Ben Kulesa-Junior BB Gun, Colby Sylte-Beginner Air Pistol and Ben Kulesa-Junior Air Pistol.

High Point Judging Plaques were presented to the following individuals for their judging on both the county and state level: Consumer Decision Making: Beginner Brady Beitelspacher, Junior Payton Eisenbeisz, Senior Heather Fuhrmann; Horticulture: Junior Payton Eisenbeisz and Junior Myra Toennies, Senior Hannah Toennies; Livestock: Beginner Bryce Beitelspacher, Junior Cody Forkel, and Senior Lane Forkel.

Top Ten Judging Awards were won by Hannah Toennies for 2nd place in Senior Horticulture, Payton Eisenbeisz for 3rd place in Junior Consumer Decision Making and 7th place in Horticulture, and Myra Toennies 8th place in Junior Horticulture. Junior Consumer Decision Making Team-1st Place-Payton Eisenbeisz, Bridget Fuhrmann, Tessa Kilber, and Myra Toennies. Junior Horticulture Skill-s-Thon Team-4th Place-Payton Eisenbeisz, Lexi Stafford, Avery Sylte, Myra Toennies.

Awards for the best 4-H Record Books went to Beginner-1st Caleb Johnson, 2nd Brady Beitelspacher; Junior-1st Ethan Gilbert, 2nd Cody Forkel; Senior-1st Jade Maier and Rieley Maier, 2nd Lane Forkel. Record Book Trophies are sponsored by the Alvina Pettigrew Family.
