Angus recognizes Roll of Victory Show winners
Strong competition has kept the Angus breed at the forefront of an ever-changing beef cattle industry. That occurs in many ways, including the showring. The American Angus Association recognized top honors in the 2013-2014 Roll of Victory (ROV) show season during the Awards Recognition Breakfast, held Nov. 6 as part of the first-ever Angus Means Business National Convention and Trade Show in Kansas City.
“Angus is fortunate to have thousands of breeders who are motivated by continuous improvement in cattle genetics,” says Bryce Schumann, Association chief executive officer. “We see that in the showring and in pastures every day, in all parts of the United States.”
During the 2013-2014 show season, more than 2,000 cattle participated for points during ROV shows and Super-Point ROV shows throughout the country.
• The ROV Show Heifer of the Year was a tie between EXAR Winnie 5291; owned by Sydney Schnoor, Chowchilla, Calif.; and Cherry Knoll Pleasant Elsa, owned by Logan Alex Wright, Philippi, WV.
• The ROV Show Bull of the Year was EXAR Blue Chip 1877B; owned by Express Ranches, Yukon, Okla.; Penner Harris, Mill Creek, Okla.; and Conley Cattle, Sulphur, Okla.
• Recognized with top honors as the ROV Breeder of the Year was Express Ranches, Yukon, Okla.
