SFA Midwest Soil Health Summit returns to Alexandria, MN

Farm Forum

The Sustainable Farming Association’s second annual Midwest Soil Health Summit will take place Feb. 18-19 at Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria, Minn.

The Summit will feature some of the most innovative farmers and researchers in the Upper Midwest for two days of networking, speakers, panel discussions, and breakout sessions – all geared at improving the health of your soil.

Returning as the keynote speaker in 2015 will be Gabe Brown of Brown’s Ranch in Burleigh County, N.D. Brown is a pioneer in diverse cover cropping, having used no-till techniques for two decades. Gabe will discuss soil health programming for beginners as well as lead a separate program for advanced farmers.

We are also proud to welcome Dr. Allen Williams, a champion of the grass-fed beef industry as well as a leader in cutting-edge grazing methodology.

Other speakers include North Dakota rancher and soil health advocate Jerry Doan, soil scientists Dr. Michael Lehman and Dr. Wendy Taheri, SFA Livestock & Grazing Specialist Kent Solberg, and cow-calf operator and longtime cover cropper Ian Cunningham.

Also planned is a program led by SFA Executive Director John Mesko on Soil Health Basics as well as an International Roundtable, a trade show and plenty of built-in time for farmer networking.

Registration for the Midwest Soil Health Summit is $125 for current SFA members and $175 for nonmembers. To register and to view a complete schedule, visit sfa-mn.org.
