SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Garret Weber, Lake Benton, Minn., judged the 4H/FFA Youth Invitational Calf Show at the Sioux Empire Farm Show Jan. 27 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Four classes of breeding heifers were shown with the grand champion heifer going to Shayna DeGroot, Edgerton, Minn. Hillary Albrecht, Howard, S.D., exhibited the reserve champion heifer.

Twenty-seven head were shown with first and second place in each of the four classes as follows: Class 1: Tanner Baustian, Luverne, Minn.; Ashlynne Beninga, Sioux Falls; Class 2: Hillary Albrecht; Tommy Norman, Luverne; Class 3: Jude Moser, Larchwood, Iowa; Neil Metzger, Larchwood; and Class 4: Shayna DeGroot; Sam Podzimek, Mitchell, S.D.

Twenty-eight steers were shown in five classes. The champion steer went to Allyson Beninga, Sioux Falls, with the reserve champion going to McKenzie Gunderson, Sioux Falls.

First and second places in each class were: Class 1: Brent Nelson, Volga, S.D.; Tate Kotalik, Utica, S.D.; Class 2: Allyson Beninga; McKenzie Gunderson; Class 3: Levi Vanderlaan, Beresford, S.D.; Ashlynne Beninga; and Class 4: Adam Eichacker, Salem, S.D.; Nick Kappenman, Madison, S.D.

Nine feeder heifers were shown in two classes. Ryker Johnke, Madison, showed the champion feeder heifer. Hillary Albrecht exhibited the reserve champion feeder heifer.

First and second places in each class were: Class 1: Chloe Hazel, Beresford; Raven Jensen, Wakonda, S.D.; and Class 2: Ryker Johnke; Hillary Albrecht.

Tanner Baustian was named champion senior showman and received the Curt Alberty Memorial Award. Hilary Albrecht was named champion junior showman and received the Darla VanAsselt Memorial Award. Josie Mousal, Colman, S.D., was named champion beginner showman and received the Bonnie Glass Memorial Award.
