SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Miles DeJong, Kennebec, S.D., judged the Sioux Empire Farm Show Angus Show Jan. 28 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

DeJong chose lot 53, Dandy Acres Hot Rod 3, a consignment from Dandy Acres Angus, Pipestone, Minn., as champion bull. He was sired by Gambles Hot Rod and out of Dandy Acres Jestress G122. He was the second highest selling bull and sold for $8,000 to Troy Baloun, Highmore, S.D.

Reserve champion bull went to lot 50, BA Cash Account, a consignment from Bruhn Angus, Manning, Iowa. He was sired by Barstow Cash and out of Forever Lady B A 20. He was the highest selling bull and sold for $9,000 to Bochek Stock Farms, Vienna, S.D.

DeJong chose lot 2, MAF Blackbird 454, a consignment from Paulsen Angus/Maass Angus, Hartley, Iowa, as champion female. She was sired by Hoover CC & 7 L38 and out of MAF Blackbird 255. She was the highest selling female selling for $7,750 to DeJong.

DeJong chose lot 7, SF Miss Blackbird 409, as reserve champion female. She was consigned by Scholtz Farm Angus, Comfrey, Minn. She was sired by BC Classic 385-7 and out of SF Miss Blackbird Ella 160. She sold for $4,000 to Will Bollum, Northfield, Minn.

The second highest selling female was a consignment from Scholtz Farm Angus and sold for $4,750 to Harlan Rasmussen, Sanborn, Minn.

Al Conover, Baxter, Iowa, served as auctioneer for the Angus Sale. He auctioned 41 bulls and nine females. Forty-one bulls averaged $4,353.66, and the nine females averaged $3,744.44.
