South Dakota Soybean announces kitchen giveaway

Farm Forum

SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota Soybean has announced a kitchen and grocery giveaway as part of the organization’s “Hungry for Truth” initiative.

The kitchen has a tradition of being the place where family and friends gather to cook meals together and share in fellowship and conversation. It is the place where people gather to make connections to each other and to their food., which is why the kitchen and dinner table serve as the “Hungry for Truth” symbols of open dialogue about food and farming.

To encourage these conversations, “Hungry for Truth” has partnered with Karl’s Appliances to give away a grand prize of $25,000 toward new cabinets, counters and premium KitchenAid appliances, including a bottom-freezer refrigerator, a convection range, an over-the-range microwave and a built-in dishwasher.

In addition, South Dakota Soybean will give away $250 worth of groceries each month in 2015, courtesy of Hy-Vee and Family Thrift.

South Dakota Soybean launched “Hungry for Truth” in early January to give people across the state opportunities to share their questions about food with farmers and to learn how farmers raise their food and work to keep it safe. The initiative includes the “Hungry for Truth” website, social media and special events throughout the year.

To enter the giveaway sweepstakes, visit Watch a quick video about food and farming, and then enter for your chance to win. While on the website, visitors are urged to explore the hottest topics in food and farming from food safety to biotechnology. Entries are limited to one per person, per day.

“We want to thank our sponsors for their involvement in this initiative,” said Marc Reiner, farmer from Tripp and chairman of the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council. “Through their partnership, Karl’s Appliances and Hy-Vee have shown their commitment to open conversations about food production and safety.”
