South Dakota Association of Towns and townships is very pleased to announce the winners of this year’s SDATAT Scholarships. The South Dakota Association of Towns & Townships offers one $1000 and one $500 scholarship to senior high school students who reside in South Dakota, are currently attending a South Dakota public, private, parochial high school or a home school program, and lives in a town or township who is a current member of SDATAT. Receiving the $1000 scholarship is Malorie Anderson of Bryant, SD and receiving our $500 scholarship is Tonner Bowman of Brandon, SD. They were judged on an essay based on the title: “The Role of a Township Board Member or City Councilman.” and competed against other applicants from all across the state.

Malorie is the daughter of Jon and Deborah Anderson, is a Hamlin Education Center graduate, and plans to attend South Dakota State University to pursue a degree in Animal Science. Her goal is to be employed in the agricultural field and bring skills back to the family farm.

Tonner is the son of Kevin and Edane Bowman, a Brandon Valley High School graduate, and plans to attend South Dakota State University majoring in Agronomy and minoring in Precision Ag.

SDATAT President Jim Puffer stated, “I commend both Malorie and Tonner for their dedication and hard work. They deserve to be proud of their achievements. SDATAT received scholarships from all across the state and it was not easy to pick our winners. All of us at South Dakota Association of Towns and Townships wish their future efforts be equally successful and rewarding.”

Ms. Anderson and Mr. Bowman have been invited to read their essay at the SDATAT’s 2015 Annual Conference held Huron, SD, December 3rd, 2015.
