Pork sandwiches grilled at Lynn’s Dakotamart in Pierre

Pierre, SD — In conjunction with the South Dakota Pork Producers Council Whole Hog Promotion and the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, South Dakota pork producers grilled up over 450 FREE pork loin sandwiches on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Lynn’s Dakotamart in Pierre. It was a beautiful day for a pork feed.

The South Dakota Pork Producers Council will be a proud sponsor again this year for the 75th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. This will be the tenth year as South Dakota Pork Producers Council “Pork, The Official Meat” of the 2015 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. South Dakota Pork Producers Council will also be sponsoring the Mayor’s Ride with a delicious pork meal at the end.

South Dakota Pork Producers Council has also kicked off the summer with the Whole Hog Promotion. They have partnered up with Family Thrift stores, Duhammel Broadcasting Enterprises, Sears and Coke for this event. This venue has consisted with a kick-off event on Friday, May, 29th serving over 600 delicious pork loin sandwiches at Lynn’s Dakotamart in Sturgis. They then grilled up amazing ground pork burgers sandwiches on Saturday, May 30th at the Family Thrift Store on Mountain View Road in Rapid City. The second of the three promotions took place on Thursday, June 25th at Lynn’s Dakotamart in Belle Fourche were they grilled up over 400 pork chop sandwiches. Then followed up this event on Friday, June 26th at the Family Thrift Store on Mountain View Road in Rapid City where they served pork chop sandwiches and handed out samples of All-Star Pork Meatballs. They will wrap this event up starting on Friday, July 24th at Walgreen’s in Spearfish starting at 11 AM serving pork loin sandwiches. Then will be doing the final promotion on Saturday, July 25th were they give away a WHOLE hog, freezer to store it in and great coke products! They will be handing out smoked pork loin sandwiches beginning at 11 AM and also the All-Star Pork Meatballs! Come join in the FUN and kick-off the 75th Motorcycle Rally!

South Dakota ranks eleventh in the nation for pork production and is ranked first in pigs per sow. South Dakota ranks ninth nationally in the number of pigs born in the state. South Dakota’s 170,000 sows raise over 3.8 million hogs per year. South Dakota hogs consume 315,000 tons of soybean meal and 52 million bushels of corn. The vast majority (98 percent) of the hog farms in South Dakota are family owned and operated. South Dakota’s pork industry contributes $520 million annually to the state’s economy and provides 7,900 jobs.
