PIERRE — The state Board of Economic Development agreed July 16 to make low-interest loans to three businesses in South Dakota planning to expand.

Shoemaker Properties LLC, better known as Webster Scale, will get a loan of $343,312 for a paint booth at its Webster facility.

The maker of scales and associated products proposes to increase its workforce by 16.

SD Industries Inc., based at Alexandria, makes equipment for swine producers. The company plans to add 17 positions. The loan amount is $639,637.

Wentz Commercial Properties LLC will get a loan of $397,000. Known as Fair Manufacturing, based at Menno, the maker of snowblowers and balers is purchasing a building in Yankton.

None of the loan applications was discussed in public other than the official votes for approval. An executive session of about 20 minutes preceded those votes and other matters. The board met by teleconference.
