The 2015 South Dakota Auctioneers Association Bid Calling Contest was held Sept. 6 at the South Dakota State Fair. Brent Ulmer of Ashley, N.D., was crowned champion, receiving a plaque, belt buckle and cash. The first runner up was Lewis Reuer of Bowdle, receiving a plaque and cash. The second runner up was Ted Souvignier of Canton, receiving a plaque and cash. This was no easy contest, as going into the final round we had a tie, and Brent and Lewis tied two more times in the finals, with finally Brent coming out on top. Brent’s duties for the upcoming year will be to host the fun auction that is held every year at the South Dakota Auctioneers Convention to be held June 9, 2016, in Watertown and hosting the 2016 bid calling contest in Huron. Everyone did a great job, and it was a very close competition.
