2016 Indoor 4-H Archery Shooting Sports Match winners named

Archery teams from Ramsey, Richland, Morton, Rolette and McIntosh counties won first-place honors in the 4-H Indoor Archery State Championship Match held recently in Edgeley.

The state indoor championship match was the final match in a circuit with four previous district matches held throughout the winter in Bismarck, Cando, Minot and West Fargo.

The district matches were conducted as 300 Vegas events with the top score of 300 points for freestyle seniors and an amended match of 150 points for other archers. Youth were required to compete in at least two of the district matches to be eligible to participate in the state indoor championship. The top two scores of each archer from the district matches were added to the score from the state indoor championship to determine team and individual awards.

In the master’s freestyle division, the Ramsey County team of Erin Morstad, Christopher Morstad, Mason Hanson and Shaelyn Tofte won first place. The top individual score belonged to Jacob Ellingson from Morton County, with a cumulative score of 895. Ellingson achieved a perfect 300 score in the Northeast District match in Cando.

The Morton County team of Blake Hensley, Jade Ellingson and Cody Mulske won top team honors in the senior freestyle division. Hensley was the individual high scorer, with a cumulative score of 836. Hensley’s highest district score was 287 at the Ward County Southwest District match.

The Richland County team of Alicia Biewer, Jaidyn Sander, Katelyn Loewen and Chase Bladow won first place in the senior barebow division. Loewen was the top individual scorer, with a cumulative score of 829. Loewen’s highest score was 280, which she earned at the Southeast District match in West Fargo.

Junior freestyle team top honors went to the Morton County team of ShiAnne Boehm, Dawson Mills and Peyton Goldade. Boehm was top individual, with her best score of 145 at the state championship match in Edgeley.

The team of Wyatt Dunlop, Marti Moberg, Trista Henderson and Sabrina Dunlop of Rolette County placed first in the junior barebow division. Jaycee Brown of Richland County was top archer, with her highest score of 262 at the state championship match in Edgeley.

The Ramsey County team of Rebecca Morstad, Benjamin Vetsch, Casia Steinhaus and Nate Steinhaus was the top team in the beginner freestyle division. Hunter Gegelman of Stutsman County was the top individual, with the cumulative score of 422. Gegelman’s high score was 142, which was at the Southeast District match in West Fargo.

First place in the beginner barebow division went to the McIntosh County team of Kenady Gross, Camden Weist, Hailey Metzger and Kya Weist. Savanna Lebrun of Ramsey County was the first-place individual, with a cumulative score of 680. Lebrun’s high score was 231, which was earned at the state championship match in Edgeley.

The state championship match was hosted by the North Dakota State University Extension Service office in LaMoure County.
