Bilingual Lunch and Learn Dairy Workshop May 18 in Flandreau
BROOKINGS — SDSU Extension dairy specialists are hosting a Bilingual Lunch and Learn Workshop May 18, 2016 from noon to 4 p.m. in Flandreau, S.D., at the Royal River Casino & Hotel (607 S Veterans St).
“All classes will be taught in English and Spanish and will focus on ways dairy owners and their employees can learn to read the cow’s body language and the strategies to enhance performance, health and wellness,” explained Maristela Rovai, assistant professor and SDSU Extension dairy specialist.
Topics that will be covered include: Cow’s body language, what’s the cow telling you; cow handling and the basics of feeding & digestibility.
A hands-on training will be held at Britannia Dairy (47750 Sd Highway 32). Transportation to the dairy for the hands-on portion of this training will be provided.
In addition to Rovai, other speakers include: Jorge Delgado, Elanco Dairy Specialist and Karla Hernandez, SDSU Extension forages field specialist.
Registration is free, but class size is limited. Lunch is provided, thanks to sponsorship of Elanco.
