KANSAS CITY, MO. – The Harvest II fundraiser event for the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) is set to take place Aug. 26-27 at the Kunde Family Winery in Kenwood, Calif., and will be hosted by Jim and Marcia Mickelson and family.

Saturday evening’s auction, on Kunde’s Boot Hill, will headline the weekend activities and will feature some of the best in Hereford genetics including: embryos, flushes, semen packages and picks of the herd, along with destination vacations, hunting trips and one of a kind items donated by Hereford breeders and supporters.

“Money raised from this event will go to the ‘Growing a Lasting Legacy’ campaign,” said Amy Cowan, director of youth activities and foundation at the American Hereford Association. “The Harvest II will help us grow the legacy fund to the million dollar level and will enable HYFA to increase support for educational and leadership events like the Junior National Hereford Expo and the Faces of Leadership Convention.”

The weekend in wine country will also feature special entertainment by master magician and comic, Jay Alexander, and Williams and Ree, a mountaintop tasting experience, wine and food pairings and tours of the breathtaking Sonoma Valley winegrowing region that is home to the Kunde Family Winery.

“This will be a great way to connect with Hereford enthusiasts that share the same passion for our youth and raise funds for the future of our breed,” Cowan said. “It will be a relaxing weekend in wine country, at an absolutely beautiful venue.”

All inclusive registration for the event is $675 per person before July 1, and includes a two-night stay at the Sheraton Sonoma County in Petaluma, Calif., Friday dinner and entertainment at the Kunde Family Winery, Saturday’s lunch, Harvest II dinner and auction, wine tours and tasting, with round-trip shuttle service from winery to hotel. A la’ Carte tickets are also available for both Friday and Saturday activities.
