Nominations sought for SD Ag Woman awards
The South Dakota Women in Agriculture board is seeking nominations for two new awards to be presented at the annual South Dakota Women in Ag’s Rural Women’s Conference in October. The South Dakota Ag Woman of the Year and the South Dakota Young Gun of Ag awards will be presented during the evening program on Oct. 6 at the K Bar S Resort, in Keystone.
“We are excited to add this new element to our conference agenda, allowing us to recognize two talented, hard working women who represent South Dakota’s Agricultural industry,” says Codi Mills, president of the South Dakota Women in Ag board of directors. “Many South Dakota women are tackling a variety of roles for their own Ag operation, in their communities and in our state, while also actively advocating for Ag. These are the women who are perfect candidates for our awards.”
Nominees must be South Dakota women involved on the farm, ranch, as an ag-educator, or in another facet of the industry. The South Dakota Ag Woman of the Year award is open to all women who are involved in agriculture. The South Dakota Young Gun of Ag award is open to women who are 25 years old or younger.
The nomination process is open through Aug. 15. Printable and online forms can be found at SouthDakotaWomenInAg.com. Finalists will be selected from the nominations received and final voting will take place on the South Dakota Women in Ag Facebook page in September.
